I preferred the default dark UI, although the icons and text are a bit harder to read in this configuration. The user interface defaults to the current hip dark gray but gives you the option to switch to a 18% gray or light gray “skin”. I'd put performance in this area about equal to Adobe Bridge. Scrolling is a bit jerky when dealing with thousands of files, even on my well equipped Mac Pro. ![]() Silkpix quickly builds thumbnails, so working with folders isn't a problem. ![]() To get started, point Silkypix Developer Studio to either the file or folder you want to work with. With that in mind, let's take a look at what Silkypix Developer Studio does do, and how it compares to some of the other options. You can't do basic organizational and keywording tasks though, so you'll still need another program for this. Yes, it'll convert your RAW images, and yes you can edit RAW, JPG, and TIFF files, and do it all non-destructively. Silkypix isn't quite an all in one solution. One of these programs is Silkypix Developer Studio from Shortcut Software. There are a number of programs available now to process these RAW images, from Adobe, Apple, Phase One, and others. The UI of latest version has also been moved to the more conventional style as other in the market. It's easy to see that shooting in the RAW format is becoming more mainstream. It is not a bad software, do what it is designed to do. While I got free complementary version of DXO, Silkypix again returns to the cold bench.īecause of the UI I never warm up to that of Silkypix. Until it was no longer justify for me to follow the expensive upgrading train of PS, the outdated version of ACR no longer handled the RAW from my newer cameras, I started to use Silkypix more serious. At that time there was virtually no 3rd party tutorial/reference books on Silkypix which made ACR a lot easier for a digital darkroom beginner to learn the skill. The more conventional UI of ACR making me easier to learn the software. Strangely enough when I followed your provided link, quit, re-followed the link in the camera manual again, the compatibility statement was no longer there.ĭespite I used Panasonic digital camera 17 years, I prefer Adobe ACR of Photoshop since it supported the RAW format of my few earlier Panasonic models. ![]() When I first saw this thread, I open the pdf manual of Panasonic G85 and followed the link to Silkypix's website, I found the compatibility statement something like "for Panasonic camera.". For its earlier versions, it is even model restricted. Here's a link to the page from which it can be downloadedĪs per the downloading link provided in the camera manuals, I always think SILKYPIX Developer Studio SE was restricted to output from Panasonic (or other brands of camera it supports). ![]() I don't know how many here use it but I've found it useful for developing RAW files from my FZ300 and FZ1000 II cameras. This version of SILKYPIX Developer Studio SE (Ver.8.0.11.2) is dated.
